A Fast UV Printing Product You Can Sell to Local Businesses

I UV print a Small Town Fall design on wooden keychains and show why batching makes a quick little product worth pitching to local businesses.

I printed a full-color Small Town Fall design on an inexpensive wooden keychain with the xTool O1 Omni. One keychain is easy to scan and align, but at nearly three minutes a piece, it gets a lot more interesting as a batch.

Laying out seven keychains together brings the estimated time to 5 minutes 53 seconds for the whole group. I go through the white and color layer setup, how I position the artwork, and how a reusable jig would help keep bigger orders lined up.

I break down the blank and ink cost, then look at boutique retail pricing and a hypothetical 250-piece business order. The ink is tiny; machine time, loading, packaging, mistakes, and customer artwork are what really drive the price.

My thinking is to take good full-color samples to real estate offices, dealerships, boutiques, and other local businesses that regularly need branded giveaways. Batching is what turns a quick novelty into something that can handle a real local order.
