UV Printed vs. Laser Engraved Ornaments — Which One Will You Make?

I make the same personalized truck ornament two ways, UV printed on White PlyCore and laser engraved on TruFlat, and compare the setup, time, and pricing.

I took one personalized truck ornament and made it two ways: a full-color UV print on White PlyCore and a laser engraving on TruFlat. I customized the Cuttle template once, then prepped it for each process in xTool Studio.

On the UV side, I set up print-and-cut, position the sheet on the xTool O1 Omni, deal with the white ink, and line up the print with the cut. For the laser version, I prep the engraving for the xTool P3, engrave the TruFlat blank, put the nozzle back on, cut the outline, and clean up the surface.

Then I compare production time and the pricing I have planned for each. The numbers change a lot when you batch a full sheet instead of making one at a time, and I also think through how live personalization could work at a craft show.

Honestly, neither one is automatically better. UV gets you full color and engraving gives you a different material and finish, so it comes down to the look you want, the equipment you have, your batch size, and what the ornament can sell for.
