Can This Simple UV Printing Project Make $132 an Hour?

I UV print a leatherette Farkle dice tray on the xTool O1 Omni, hit the print head on a lifted corner, and work out what the pricing really looks like.

I turned a laser-safe leatherette folding tray into a full-color Farkle dice tray on the xTool O1 Omni. I cleaned up the artwork with xTool Studio’s contiguous cutout control, sized it for the center of the tray, and printed flexible white under the color.

The print took about eight and a half minutes and roughly six cents of ink. The graphic came out clean, but one corner of the tray lifted off my well-used adhesive bed and caused a print-head strike.

So, lesson learned: tape flexible blanks down on all four sides. I’d also keep at least one spare blank on hand for customer work, so a failed print doesn’t turn into a delayed order, an apology, and a wait for replacement material.

With about $8 in tray and dice materials and a $30 selling price, making six in an hour works out to a theoretical $132 an hour. I treat that as a pricing model, not guaranteed profit, because setup, failed pieces, inventory, and a repeatable way to hold the blank all have to be accounted for.
