I’ve been using a 30W MOPA fiber laser to engrave slate, and in this video I walk through how I get consistent results. You don’t need a lot of experience to follow along.
I start with test grids to find the right settings. Watch how the color changes, and keep an eye out for bubbling or raised spots while you test. I share how I dial in power and frequency.
Getting a bright white engrave involves some tradeoffs, since changing the power can affect how much the color varies. The end result here is a set of slate coasters with a branded logo, and I compare how easy and fast this is next to other laser types like CO2.
Honestly, engraving slate with a fiber laser is pretty straightforward, especially with a MOPA. Try different settings and branding ideas, and if you want more help, I mention the training resources I offer.
