I needed a place to slow down and think through ideas, and I had a faux-leather journal that I’d barely used. So I customized it with my Morpho UV printer and turned it into an ideation book.
I mask off the journal’s metal logo, line up the artwork in Morpho Studio with snapshot alignment, adjust the bed size and choose white and CMYK print settings. Then I print matching designs on the front and back covers.
One of the prints has a small imperfection, and I’m keeping it anyway. Done is better than perfect, and I’m trying to get better about putting projects out there even when they aren’t flawless.
I also talk about why one-off pieces like a personalized journal can be valuable, whether for yourself or for customers looking for something a little different. Try your own designs and don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you finish.
