I wanted to see if the xTool O1 Omni could print cleanly on blanks I 3D print myself. I designed a four-inch rounded coaster in Shapr3D with pockets for four magnets, so the same model can be a coaster or a fridge magnet.
In Bambu Studio, I add a pause so I can drop the magnets in before the rest of the layers seal them inside. I printed white, black, and starlight PLA versions, and I had to place them near the edge of the O1 Omni bed because the magnets repel the center, so batch work would really need a jig.
On the white PLA I used one white layer and one CMYK layer, and on the darker colors two white layers and one CMYK layer. All three took an estimated 18 minutes 41 seconds and about 24 cents of ink, but layer lines and other print defects can still show through the graphics.
Flat 3D-printed parts can make good custom UV blanks when a laser-cut blank isn’t the better fit. If you want to go past a one-off sample, a smooth top surface, consistent positioning, the right white underbase, and a tested jig matter most.
