Mirror alignment is a normal part of maintaining a CO2 laser like the Monport K40, and if your laser’s output has dropped over time, it can help bring it back.
I go through the setup, then align each of the three mirrors one at a time. I use calipers and masking tape to make sure the adjustments are accurate.
It’s generally pretty straightforward, but it comes down to small adjustments and paying close attention as you go. If you put in a new laser tube, you’ll likely need to realign the mirrors too.
Make this part of your regular maintenance, because keeping the mirrors aligned can make a big difference in how your laser performs.
