Connecting your Ruida-controlled laser to LightBurn over Ethernet sounds more intimidating than it is. I prefer it over USB, and it only takes a few steps.
First, I find the IP address of my computer’s Ethernet adapter using ipconfig on Windows or ifconfig on macOS. Then I enter an IP address on the laser’s control panel, which is usually one number higher than the computer’s.
In LightBurn, I add a new device, pick the Ruida Ethernet SL UDP option and enter the laser’s IP address. If that number is wrong, they won’t talk to each other, so double-check it.
I finish by showing the connection working. For me, Ethernet has been more reliable, and it makes it easier to control and keep an eye on the laser.
