# Cut Your xTool F1 Engraving Time in Half — Here’s How

Engraving on the xTool F-series lasers can take a while. In this video, I show how
I use the Smart Engrave function in XCS to cut that time down a lot.

I compare standard engraving and Smart Engrave on projects like necklaces and money
clips, and I show where to turn it on in XCS. Software updates can make it act a
little inconsistent with certain designs, so keep that in mind.

I share the time savings I’ve seen with Smart Engrave, but the tool pathing can 
vary, so you’ll still want to test your engraving settings and experiment a bit.

If engraving time is slowing you down on your xTool laser, Smart Engrave is worth
trying, and in my experience you don’t have to give up quality to get the speed.
